Rimi Sen

Biography: Rimi Sen is an Indian Bollywood actress frequently referred to as a lucky mascot. This is because she has had a reputation of doing small roles in movies that have become huge hits at the box office. Her real name is Shubhomitra Sen, but she has carried on with her screen name ‘Rimi’.

Rimi completed her schooling from Bidya Bharti Girls’ High School. Originally an Odissi dancer, she has performed for a well known troupe of Aloka Kanungo. Later she landed up in films, when director Priyadarshan noticed her during an ad stint for Coke and decided to cast her in his film, Hungama. This one lucky turn changed things for the better for Rimi, and she is now moving full on to a greater career in films. After Hungama, she appeared in films such as Baghban, Dhoom, Garam Masala, Kyon Ki, Phir Herapheri, Golmaal, Dhoom 2, Hattrick and many more. Her latest film Johnny Gaddaar opposite Neil Nitin Mukesh saw her with a larger screen presence compared to her other hit films. Her performance in the film Golmaal also saw her in a wider screen presence. Her next film De Taali failed to do well commercially.

Rimi has also been into controversies. During an interview in 2006 she seemed to have upset certain minority sections of the society for her seemingly racist remarks towards Black Africans. But this matter has not really affected her image much and she has come out of it almost unscathed. Her major projects include Horn Ok Please, Airport and Sankat City.
