Ranbir Kapoor

Born: 28 September, 1982 in Mumbai, India

Biography: Hailing from the Kapoor clan, also known as the first family of Bollywood, Ranbir Kapoor is the son of Rishi Kapoor and Neetu Singh and the grandson of Raj Kapoor. While Riddhima Kapoor is Ranbir’s sister, Karisma and Kareena are his cousins.

Ranbir studied at the Bombay Scottish College and later studied acting at the Lee Stratsberg Theatre and Film Institute in New York. Prior to acting in films Ranbir worked as an assistant on the sets of Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Black. He also worked as an assistant director in films like Prem Granth and Aa Ab Laut Chalen.

But his interest lied in acting and this dream came true when he appeared on screen for the first time in Saawariya opposite childhood friend Sonam Kapoor. Although this film failed at the box office, Ranbir was well appreciated for his quality of acting and appearance. He was awarded the Best Male Debut Award by Filmfare for his performance in Saawariya. Post Saawariya, he costarred with Deepika Padukone, Bipasha Basu and Minissha Lamba in the film Bachna Ae Haseeno. This film went on to be a moderate success. He received the Starscreen Best Actor Award for this film.

Apart from films, Ranbir also endorses some brands; he played the youth icon for Pepsi’s Youngistan ad. Ranbir’s forthcoming films are Rajkumar Santoshi's Ajab Prem Ki Ghazab Kahani opposite Katrina Kaif and Karan Johar’s production Wake up Sid, opposite Konkona Sen Sharma.

Ranbir is one of the most promising new generation actors of Bollywood who has carried on the Kapoor legacy along with his cousin Kareena Kapoor. With a charismatic personality and sincerity towards the profession, he is here to rock the Bollywood stage.
