Biography:
Kareena Kapoor, nicknamed Bebo is one of the most popular actresses of Bolywood. She is the daughter of yesteryear Bollywood actors, Randhir Kapoor and Babita. Her elder sister, Karisma is herself a popular Bollywood actress.Her family has a strong lineage of successful Bollywood actors, including her paternal great-grandfather, Prithviraj Kapoor; her grandfather, Raj Kapoor; her paternal uncles, Shammi, Shashi, Rishi, and Rajiv; as well as aunt, Neetu Singh, & Jennifer Kendall, the wives of Rishi and Shashi respectively. On her maternal side, her grandfather, Hari Shivdasani, and aunt, Sadhana, have been actors in their own rights.
Kareena made her acting debut in Refugee (2000), for which she won a Filmfare Best Female Debut Award. In 2001, Kapoor received her first commercial success with her second release, Mujhe Kucch Kehna Hai and later appeared in Karan Johar's melodrama Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham, which became India's top-grossing film in the overseas market that year and her biggest commercial success to date. Post 2003, she went on to take up more challenging roles, starting with the portrayal of a sex worker in Chameli in 2004. She has won several awards for her performances in 'Refugee', 'Chameli', 'Dev', 'Omkara' and 'Jab We Met'.
She is currently one of the most sought-after actresses in Bollywood.
