Gul Panag

Born: January 3, 1977 in Chandigarh, India

Biography: Known for her gorgeous looks and dimpled smile, Gul Panag is a Bollywood actress and former beauty queen. Born in a family with an army background, with her father being the Lieutenant General in the Indian Army, Gul got several opportunities to travel. Owing to this, she had to change schools frequently and ended up studying in as many as 14 different schools. She completed her Bachelor’s degree in Mathematics from Punjab University and did her Masters in Political Science from the same university. She also has a younger brother Sherbir Singh, who is a nationally ranked skeet shooter.

Gul won the Miss India title in the beauty pageant of 1999, where she was also crowned as Miss Beautiful Smile. She also positioned amongst the top 10 contestants at the Miss Universe contest, 1999. She entered cinema with her debut film Dhoop (2003). She also appeared in some ads and acted in a TV serial called Kashmeer, showcased on Star Plus.

Gul has performed many critically acclaimed roles. She first found success with her performance of Zeenat Fatima in the film Dor. Also, another film called Manorama - Six Feet Under, which is a film inspired from Roman Polanski’s Chinatown, won her wide appreciation and some rave reviews. Her most recent releases include Summer2007 and Hello, inspired by Chetan Bhagat’s novel - One Night@ The Call Center. Her upcoming films include films like Straight and A Rectangular Love Story.

In every film, Gul has donned a new look and appearance. She is working very hard and trying on diverse roles. Apart from films, Gul holds a lot of interest in adventure sports, traveling and exploring places. Her interest in places and people perhaps contributes to her versatility and maturity as an actor.
