Emraan Hashmi

Biography: Emraan Hashmi has been in bollywood for the past couple of years and has won the title of a ‘serial kisser’ thanks to the many kissing scenes in his movies. Another interesting thing about the actor is that he has added an extra ‘a’ in his name after consulting a numerologist.

Emraan is the nephew of Mahesh Bhatt. He was born on 23rd March, 1979 to a Muslim father and Catholic mother. He graduated from Sydenham College in Mumbai and started off his filmy career in 2003 with the film Foothpath. Although this film did not do very well at the box office, his consecutive film Murder was well received by the viewers.

In 2005, three of Emraan’s films were released and all of them did well. These were Zeher, Aashiq Banaya Aapne and Kalyug. The sound tracks of these films did exceptionally well too. Of his films released next year, such as Jawani Deewani - A Youthful Joyride, Aksar and Gangster, only Gangster managed to do well. It was said that Gangster was a movie based on the relationship of the infamous Abu Salem and his girlfriend Monica Bedi.

In 2007, Emraan worked in films like Awaraapan and The Train. His next bout of success came with the movie Jannat in 2008. Once again the music of this movie was given by Pritam, which was outstanding and contributed to success of the movie and Emraan’s career. Another film Raaz - The Mystery Continues released in 2009 was a hit.

His forthcoming films are Tum Mile and Once Upon a Time in Mumbai. Despite sharing the competitive Bollywood stage alongside the ‘Khans’ and other successful actors, Emraan has managed to create a niche for himself.
