Biography:
Deepika Padukone, a former Indian model, is now one of the most popular fresh faces of Bollywood. She is the daughter of former badminton player Prakash Padukone.
She has been a very successful model and was Model of the Year at the fifth annual Kingfisher Fashion Awards. Besides ramp, she has also been modeling appearances in print and television advertising campaigns for Liril, Close-Up toothpaste and Limca. She hit the international scene when Maybelline made her their new international cover-girl face.
Deepika branched out her career to acting in 2006 with her cinematic debut in the Kannada film, Aishwarya staring opposite actor Upendra. She later made a successful Bollywood debut in 2007 with Farah Khan's Om Shanti Om opposite Shahrukh Khan. The film went on to become the biggest hit of the year, both in India and abroad.
