David Dhawan

Biography: David Dhawan is a popular Bollywood film director who is known for his comedy films and is identified as the ‘King of Comedy.’ Brother of actor Anil Dhawan, David Dhawan’s real name is Rajinder. His wife is Karuna and he has two sons namely Rohit and Varun. While Rohit wants to be a director, Dhawan plans to launch Varun as an actor. Dhawan completed a course at the Film and Television Institute of Pune. He first started as an editor before he became a director.

He specializes in comedy and most of his films have portrayed Govinda and Salman Khan in leading roles. His films often have actors like Paresh Rawal and Kader Khan in supporting roles. Among actresses, Karisma Kapoor and Juhi Chawla were one of Dhawan’s favourites.

He is known to have an array of hit films to his credit. To mention a few of his successful films, Haseena Maan Jayegi, Mujhse Shaadi Karogi, Maine Pyaar Kyu Kiya and last release Partner have all done quite well commercially. Some of his previous films include Shola Aur Shabnam, Aankhen, Coolie No. 1, Judwaa, Biwi No.1, Hero No.1, Kunwara et al. A typical David Dhawan film will be usually cast with a lot of popular song scores and dances weaved around simply storylines on the backdrop of family. The audience can always expect to be thoroughly entertained and refreshed with his films unlike other sensational or action oriented films.

Dhawan is currently working on films like Do Not Disturb starring Salman, Ritesh Deshmukh, Lara Dutta and Sushmita Sen, a sequel to the film Partner again starring Salman and Govinda and Hook Ya Crook casting John Abraham. So Dhawan fans can look up to some more fun and frolic.
