Amrita Rao

Biography: Personification of sheer grace and subtle beauty, Amrita Rao was born on June 17, 1981 to dad Deepak Rao, the owner of an advertising firm. Amrita studied psychology and graduated from Sophia college where she had her first encounter with the glamour world auditioning for the Fairever ad. This founded her modeling career and thereafter she sprung to the limelight in nearly 35 ads including Perk, Close-up, and Pantene. She was also the brand ambassador of major campaigns like D’Damas and Miss Player. While he first movie venture, Abke Baras in 2002 didn’t get the audience excited, she shot to instant fame with Ken Ghosh’s Ishq Vishq in 2003 which got great response world wide. It also delivered her the best debutante award from Stardust , IIFA and Filmfare.
A year later, she was seen in a funky guise in Main Hoon Na, which got her a nomination for best supporting actress. In 2005 Masti, Shikhar and Vah! Life ho to Aisee did not set the audience’s pulse racing. Then Vivah in 2006 was the best thing to happen to her career as it enjoyed phenomenal success.None could have portrayed the demure yet intense Poonam better than Amrita. Her breathtaking beauty won her the adulation of Art Maestro M.F Hussain while his first love Madhuri Dixit herself admired Amrita's beauty and talent at the 2007 Filmfare awards during her performance. That year, however, disappointed fans as she was seen nowhere except a cameo role in 'Hey Baby’, though she acted in Telugu movies down south which smashed box office records.2008 was again low tide with ‘My Name is Anthony Gonsalves’ doing less than average. The damsel likes to keep a low profile regarding her personal life and has a soft spot for mentally challenged people who she wants to help ultimately.
