Biography: Blessed with the looks that can kill, the hot and sultry Amrita Arora was born in Mumbai on 31st Jan, 1978 to Joyce Polycrap, a Malayali and Anil Arora, a Punjabi. Being the younger sister of Malaika Arora Khan, a famous model- actress herself, the effect sure rubbed on Amrita. A graduate in Psychology from Sophia College, Mumbai, the damsel did modeling during the initial phases of her career before she became a video jockey. She won MTV VJ hunt and hosted “MTV Full House” and “MTV Chill Out”. She also endorsed brands like Elle 18, Ponds and Sunsilk.

She debuted with the movie ‘Kitne door, kitne paas” in 2002 opposite Fardeen Khan. The movie did not make waves at the box-office but, gave Amrita enough limelight to be spotted by the film industry biggies. Her first hit came soon after her debut in 2002, “Awara Pagal Diwana” directed by Vikram Bhatt. After a series of unfortunate flops, she landed into a pool of controversies for her very audacious movie, “Girl friend”, based on the lesbian relationship in the year 2004. Her 2006 releases- “Rakh” and “Fight club- members only” did average business. After from her forgetful in-and-out appearances in 2007 came the biggest hit of her career in 2008- “GOLMAAL RETURNS”.

After a series of much-talked-about and unsuccessful relationships, this 5’5” actress tied knot with Shakeel Ladak in March, 2009. Ammu, as she is fondly called by her friends and family, is known to be BFF(Best Friends Forever) with Kareena Kapoor. So much so, that Kareena, along with Amrita’s sister Malaika, was chosen to be the Bride’s maid at her wedding.
