James Cameron's sci-fi flick 'Avatar' has broken all previous box office records for Fox Star Studios in India.
In two weeks' time, the movie has grossed Rs 560 million in India, breaking the record of Cameron's previous hit 'Titanic'.
Till date, 'Titanic' was the highest grosser for Fox in India, with a cumulative collection of Rs 550 million. 'Avatar' has broken this record to become the most successful film ever for Twentieth Century Fox in India. The paid previews of the movie across India has seen the movie earning Rs 1 crore. The opening day itself saw the movie grossing Rs 6.7 crores.
'Avatar' then went on to earn weekend collections of Rs 220 million. With Rs 400 million as opening week collections in India, 'Avatar' is riding on the crestwave of success, and the collections are getting stronger by the day. In fact, there has been demand for more prints of the film from different parts of the country.
