Big B’s Basic Instinct

If reports are to be believed, Amitabh Bachchan might be cast in a film opposite none other than Sharon Stone. It’s reported that director Tapan Saha might cast them in his new venture, tentatively titled Lost Love.

The story is about an American girl who spends twenty five years waiting for her boyfriend and then comes to India in search of him. The older version of the couple will be played by Amitabh and Sharon respectively. Amitabh’s son Abhishek and Amanda Seyfried of ‘Mamma Mia!’ fame may be roped in to play the younger version of the couple. Shahid kapoor has also reportedly been offered a role in this film.

It will be interesting to see how Saha can pull this off. Even more interesting would be the reaction of the audiences when they see Big B and Sharon together. While Big B has been the superstar of the Hindi film industry for decades and is still going strong, Sharon Stone has had her own share of fame for doing some bold movies. She, however, owes her fame to one film in particular, Basic Instinct. The film was a huge hit all across the globe in the early 90’s. The film was a taut thriller but what really made it into such a huge hit was the raunchy and memorable performance by Sharon stone.

Indian movie buff will not get to see a glimpse of Basic Instinct in Lost love but the casting coup, if successfully pulled off, will definitely be worth the effort.
