Verdict: B grade film
The first 30 minutes of yuvraaj might seem like the worst start of a subash ghai movie ever. With beautiful sets and cinemotography, the film lacks substance and solid performances. Boman Irani comes in as a huge dissapointment as his role seems unreal. Salman khan does pretty decent but fails to impress because he has a habbit of over acting. Katrina Kaif looks gorgeous and is perfect eye candy but isnt a great actress. The story in the first half seems slow as subash ghai introduces the characters. The songs are decent as well but are presented in an awkward way besides thu hi meri dost hain. Anil Kapoor seems to impress with his acting but again his role seems so weird and tough to digest at first.Maybe the casting wasnt done right. The performances werent that great but its a movie whre u cant blame the high paid stars but you could only blame the weak script. The story was also was very interesting. It couuld have worked if it was carried in a different style, and maybe even different actors. No offesne to small khan, or to the rest of the cast..It is a musical. but is a painful musical. THe story also gets to become to much of a typical bollywood melo-drama which we had enough of with subash ghai in taal and pardes. Overrall Yuvraaj was a big dissapointed and the only thing worth watching for are the cinemotography, anil kapoors somewhat moving performance and katrina kaifs eye candy. And i guess you should also watch it if your a die-hard khan fan.
