Verdict: Old wine in a new bottle
Movie's beginning promises it to be a great comedy and lives up to it very well in the first half. Shah Rukh does well in a middle class small town guy avtaar – from his clothes, hairstyle, mustache to his mannerisms and acting, everything is the audience’s delight. Surinder Sahni almost single handedly (would say with a little help from Aditya Chopra and Vinay Pathak as his barber friend) makes the movie both enjoyable and watchable. But mind you its Surinder Sahni we are talking about and not the irritating ‘Raj’. However, the romance between Shah Rukh and the charming lady is thandaa and sans any on screen chemistry – no, no sparks fly anywhere when they are together. Aditya Chopra has essentially adopted his old melodramatic storyline which is a little out of touch with the modern times and has essentially tried serving old wine in a new bottle. The novelty was missing and so was the old charm. The only department Aditya really wins hands over is in the delivery of comic situations of the first half.

....a drama that's completely out-of-sync with contemporary Bollywood...The only high point of the film is Shahrukh Khan's interpretation of the geeky-gawky middle class hero...
Nikhat Kazmi, The Times of India...Incontestably, Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi is an SRK show....The actor sends you home with a smile and a tear...So, here's a must grab ticket to SRK.
