Synopsis:
Roshan, an NRI comes back to his ancestral home in Old Delhi to fetch his grandmother to stay with him in NY. While in India, he meets a lot many interesting characters. In the backdrop of the story is the monkey man episode which has symbolic undertones of religious rifts. The movie goes on to explore these tensions mingled with Roshan's story while in Delhi 6.

Rakesh has been very secretive about the story of Dilli6. It is rumored that very few hard script copies exist and those are shared by the director and lead cast only.Dilli6 is said to be based on his childhood experiences in Delhi.
Kiran Rao (Aamir Khan's wife) stepped in to take the role of Rakesh's assistant director on Dilli 6 after his original AD had to shift to US due to personal issues.

Director Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra, actress Sonam Kapoor, lyricist Prasoon Joshi and singer Kailash Kher were present at the event.23 Jan, 2009: Sonam Kapoor's character in Delhi 6 is that of an aspiring singer and is creating a lot of buzz in town owing to the promos, which depicts Sonam playing a bindaas girl dressed in trendy Indian crossover attires.
